  • Next General Meeting is Jan. 23

    We have had a busy year, especially this summer and fall.  So that everyone can have a break and enjoy the holiday season, we have postponed our next general meeting until Monday January 23rd, 7-9 pm. We will send more information closer to the date.

  • New Executive Board Member Appointed

    Frank Gonzalez has been appointed the new secretary of GSD. After club elections this past week, the position of secretary was unfilled. Our prior secretary remains on the board as a vice-president. GSD’s bylaws allow for a third vice-president and, since the club is growing, the executive board is as well.   • General Meeting Recap

    We had our first general meeting in person this week. We were so happy to be together and to welcome quite a few new members! Assemblymember-elect Grace Lee joined us to share her plans for the future and made a request for volunteers for this Saturday, November 19th to give out turkeys with Vision Urbana (see below for details). We also heard from Allison Greenfield, who is running for Manhattan Civil Court Judge. District Leader, Caroline Laskow, also encouraged us to GOTV for Senator Raphael Warnock’s runoff election in Georgia on December 6th. See below for opportunities to participate.

    We also held our annual Executive Committee elections. With large consensus, the current executive positions were re-elected for another year. We added a third VP position per our bylaws:

  • Call For Change

    GSD membership voted overwhelmingly to sign on to the Call for Change in NY State Democratic Leadership, a petition to Governor Hochul to replace Jay Jacobs as the chair of the NY State Democratic Committee after NY State lost four Democratic congressional seats in last week’s election. You can read the letter calling for the replacement of State Party Chair Jay Jacobs.

  • Mingle with Fellow Members

    We held our first Welcome Wednesday November 9th at Saluggi’s which was enjoyed by all. The next one is on Dec 14 (6p-8p) at El Castillo de Jagua 2. These nights are a great opportunity for GSD members to get to know each other better in a more informal way. Small bites will be provided at each Welcome Wednesday. Please join us!!

  • Here’s what you missed or want to enjoy again

    On October 18, GSD had it’s fall fundraiser at a packed Donybrook joined by members, honorees, local offcials, judicial delegates and judicial candidates. An official video of the event has been released. We have our next general meeting Nov. 15 in person at the Seward Park Community Room.

  • Thank you CM Marte for explaining the ballot proposals on Nov ballot

    Yesterday, Council Member Christopher Marte presented on the four ballot proposals on the back of the ballot this November. He recommends a “yes” vote on all four. Listen to the presenation below.

  • GSD Fall Fundraiser Success

    We are still celebrating from our Fall Fundraiser on October 18 with over 75 guests present – members, newcomers, our federal/local representatives and judicial candidates. We were so pleased to honor esteemed community members for their local activism that strengthens and uplifts our neighborhood (see above). As we began our honors, the Yankees won the American League Division Series, adding energy and optimism to the crowd.Check out our social media for tons of photos and videos

    It was great to be together in person again and look forward to more action in the coming year. Thank you to all of our members, sponsors, guests and elected officials.  And, thanks to Donnybrook for being such wonderful hosts.

  • Next Meeting: November 15 @ 7pm

    GSD will hold elections for club officers on November 15 via Zoom. The posistions are: President, Vice-President (up to 3), Secretary, and Treasurer. The term is one year. Any member with voting privileges shall be eligible for election to any office, provided that no member shall hold more than one office simultaneously. No person shall be eligible to hold the office of President for more than four full consecutive terms, and will be eligible again for that office after a period of two years. No officer of the Club shall receive any compensation, direct or indirect, for acting in such capacity. District Leaders may not serve as an officer of the Club during their elected term.
