We have started a petition campaign to make the Essex-Delancey subway station elevator accessible. We have collected about 1000 signatures in hardcopy. Involved: GSD, SALT, UA3, Manny Cantor, Daisy Paez. MTA met with reps from Dan Goldman’s and Chris Marte’s office (not sure about Kavanagh or Lee). MTA has the station on its 2025-2030 five year plan. Biggest problem is getting an easement from EDC to build the elevator near the old Essex Market building. EDC has not been responsive so far. MTA offered a short-term alternative to build one at 2nd Avenue F train. We are going to argue for the alternative to be either Grand Street (D/B) or East Broadway (F). We are going to reposition the campaign to include EDC along with the MTA as a target. CB3 is supposed to have a public meeting with the MTA and EDC; we are looking to attend that
